What is a Triad?
who agree to work together to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens and enhance the delivery of law enforcement services to this population. Triad provides the opportunity for the exchange of information between law enforcement and senior citizens. It focuses on reducing unwarranted fear of crime and improving the quality of life for seniors. A Triad is tailored to meet the needs of each town / city / county and is governed by a senior advisory council (S.A.L.T.).

Major polls indicate that crime and fear of crime impact severely on Older Americans.Recognizing the challenging situation presented by a rapidly increasing number of Older Americans in the County, we desire to identity and offer ways of dealing more effectively with many of the problems faced by older citizens.
Because of the aging of the population and the increasing demands being placed on law enforcement agencies to meet the needs of older citizens, it is important that the county's leading law enforcement agencies devote special attention to the needs of senior citizens.
The Mission of the Wiscasset Police Department is to reduce criminal victimization of senior citizens, address life quality issues, enhance the delivery of law enforcement, educate seniors on crime prevention and safety issues, and to inform seniors of the resources available to them
If you have any questions or concerns please contact your local ( ECCO ) Elder Crime Contact Officer.
LINCOLN COUNTY TRIAD
The Lincoln County Triad was organized in September of 1999. There are over 620 Triads nation-wide. The purpose is to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens and enhance delivery of law enforcement services to this population. A Triad consists of a sheriff, the county police chiefs and AARP or older/retired leadership in the area. To date we have the involvement of representatives of all the above groups in Lincoln County. The Triad members have signed a formal agreement of purpose.
The Triad held a highly successful Elder Appreciation Day on May 6, 2000 at the Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta. In addition to informative exhibits and demonstrations, food and entertainment, there were expert speakers on Medicare fraud, telephone and other scams and staying safely independent in your home. Major donations were made to this effort by food purveyors in Lincoln County.
The Lincoln County Triad is a no-profit organization which is in desperate need of funding. First we need some "seed money", to date, all postage and supplies have been donated by the individuals and organizations involved in the Triad. The time has come to order some stationary, buy stamps and print some promotional materials with fraud and safety information, including the telephone numbers of LOCAL safety organizations and officials. We would welcome any and all donations to our cause.
The Triad would also like to know about groups that you belong to who would welcome speakers. We are blessed to have good and knowledgeable speakers who are eager to go out and reach the mature community with their message. Please feel free to contact any of the individuals or organizations listed below with such information or request.
You may send your donations to the Lincoln County Triad at P 0 Box 1395, Damariscotta, ME 04543.
